Educational Opportunities

A variety of educational opportunities area vailable to those interested in learning more about harvesting wind power as an independent, clean, and renewable source of electricity.

Workshops and other training activities are one way the North Carolina Small Wind Initiative and Wind Application Center strive to serve the region in wind power adoption. Making use of the unique Small Wind Research and Demonstration Faciltiy and the educational labratory facilities on the Appstate campus, workshops are offered to explore the "ins and outs" of small wind technology and education.


The Wind Energy Industry is growing faster than any other energy sector in the world today, so the Appalachian State University Sustainable Technology program continues to keep pace and offer unparalleled opportunities for graduates. The Appstate Department of Sustainable Technology and the Built Environment's Sustainable Technology Program for undergraduate and graduate degrees offer cousework, hands-on training, research projects, and other unqiue wind power applications for students.
